Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas!

The city of bright lights, glitter, gambling and fun! A 24 hour city with always something to do and see. It's as if you can almost hear Elvis singing the famous song "Viva Las Vegas". Along with this comes a very interesting history of of Hotels, Entertainers and much more. 

On the website http://www.lasvegasgiftsource.com/  is an oustanding collection of books on the history of Las Vegas and they include such titles as: Off-Strip, Today's Strip,  History, Memories, and Las Vegas Neighborhood Resorts.

Some bits of trivia include things like ~

In 2005 Hugh Hefner was going to construct a Playboy Hotel & Casino on the property where the Cosmopolitan now stands.  Mr. Hefner abandoned the idea when he decided to open a Playboy Club at the Palms resort instead.

In 1989 The Mirage hotel was built for $630 million with 3,014 rooms and the cost averaged about $209,000 per room.

In 2005 the Wynn Las Vegas was built for $2.7 billion with 2,716 rooms and the cost average about $1,000,000 per room.

1978 Superman was filmed at areas of Hoover Dam.

Some of the Las Vegas pioneers include people such as Howard Hughs, Dell E. Webb, and Hank Greenspun.
